A running tour is just what it sounds like - a guided sightseeing tour that takes place on the run. For more details, see our blog post.
Our pace is determined by the participants of the tour. These are fun, casual tours, meant to include all running abilities. Typically, the pace is between 10 - 11 minutes miles, with multiple stops for photo opportunities and learning about the surroundings.
Our tours are intended for runners, but if you are interested in doing a walking tour, please contact us, and we would be happy to set something up!
Yes, tips are not expected, but appreciated.
Please plan on arriving 5-10 minutes prior to the tour start time, so tours can depart on time. If you are running late, please text or call your guide. We will try to wait for you whenever possible within reason. For private tours, your guide will wait 10 minutes after the scheduled time. For group runs, if we don’t hear from you and the group is ready to leave, we will not wait.
We run our tours rain, shine, sleet, snow, etc... Unless there is extreme weather that makes the tour dangerous, we will run.
Your guide may have bottled water available at the end of the tour, but it's recommended that you bring some water, especially on a hot day.
Yes and no. Tours that are stroller-friendly are marked as such (South Side and Downtown). Unfortunately, strollers are not allowed on all tours because of the unique geography in Pittsburgh; many of our routes ascend and descend stairs and traverse rough roads, making it unsafe/impractical for strollers.
Tours are non-refundable, unless cancelled by Pittsburgh Running Tours due to inclement weather. If you are unable to make your tour, you may transfer your registration to another date within 6 months.
